Political opposition to Canada’s plan to buy 65 F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin increased on Thursday after the release of a report suggesting that the government had understated their cost by about $12 billion. …
Opposition politicians have criticized the F-35, saying it is too expensive and too sophisticated for Canada’s relatively small air force. Others have questioned the wisdom of using an aircraft with only one engine to patrol Canada’s remote Arctic region.
