$217 million is how much the US government is providing for “relief and recovery efforts”—including water treatment units, rescue boats and food—in Pakistan during the worst floods in that nation’s history, as of Sept. 4, 2010.

$2.1 billion is the minimum aggregate value of the US government’s military aid to Pakistan from 2001 through March of this year, for weapons—including nearly 6,000 missiles, 20 attack helicopters and 18 brand-new F-16 fighter jets (pdf).
